The Author
Born January 22, 1968 to William and Loretta Murray, I was pretty much the quiet one as a little girl. Later as I grew older, fighting with my brothers had "toughened me up". I started playing tackle football with my brothers and our neighbor's grandchildren which turned out to be a lot of fun. I didn't mind being the only girl on my street playing football with the guys. In high school I ran track and was a member of the Varsity Club.
More About The Author
This was at a time when my popularity wasn't "at the top of the charts". It was then that I found my niche in life. Counseling my friends on their love lives, putting myself in other people's situations, as well as being frustrated with how things were going with my life. Unwilling to discuss my problems with others, I began putting them on paper.
In doing this I learned how to release a lot of stress, tension, and all around negativity while bringing to light a new perspective of my surroundings. This is how it all got started.
I guess the most common question everyone has asked is, "How do you do it?" The answer is simple. I do it by seeing not only with my eyes, but reaching deep down in my soul to see with my heart and mind as well. How New Dawn Poetry Came About
New Dawn Poetry evolved about seven or eight years ago when I realized that if I was going to do something with my work, then that was the time to do it. I wanted to make a difference while doing something different with my work. I didn't want to be someone who wrote poetry and did nothing with it. Writing words and songs that voices would never share, (like Simon & Garfunkel so graciously put it), just doesn't sit well with me.
I enjoy making people happy in whatever way I'm able to so I had to come up with a name that was unique and different. After wrecking my brain for a few hours, my friend, Robert, said call it "New Dawn Poetry". It clicked! It sounded perfect and being that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of all who read my works, I came up with the slogan "discover a new inner peace".
I still continue to write to this day and God willing, for many more to come. As long as I can make a difference in someone's life with my poetry, I've done my part to bring joy and happiness into the world. Continue to live prosperous one and all; I look forward to smiling with you again.

INSPIRATIONS
This particular book I decided to make as a tribute or a poetic dedication (as I like to see it) to everyone and everything. To pretty much bring happiness to those who are sad, uplift the heart broken, bring joy to the sorrowful and give hope to the unsure. Any way you look at it, it's all positive energy. If I can bring a smile to your face or make you laugh at least once a day, then I've done my job.

CAN YOU DIG IT?
Just Released and Availble on Amazon
Can You Dig It is a collection of my latest works over the past few years. It entails a reflection of subject matter from the harsh realities of injustice to the inspirational "heart and soul" of our true inner selves. Over the years, I've learned to look at life from a perspective other than my own and it's with that understanding, I've been able to grow and see growth in others. Society has thrown a lot of obstacles in our paths some things which we may never have control over. Hopefully, the words within this book will help us better understand not just our society, but each other as a people. ISBN: 978-0-578-23410-6

The Inspiration Behind Inspirations
I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that laughter, smiles, happiness, joy and any other uplifting word you can think of are all positively infectious! Because 9 times out of 10 you’ll get an equally positive reaction back when you make someone feel better than they were before you came along. If it’s one thing that I love and live to do, it’s to make someone happy even if it’s for only a few moments in their life; because whatever they are feeling bad about, they’ve forgotten about it for that split second. Their pain stopped for just enough time for them to have a different outlook on how things are, were or even could be.
We were always told as youngsters and still in life today that no matter how bad you’re feeling about your situation, there’s always someone else somewhere else doing a lot worse than you; and it’s true. There’s so much negativity going on in the world today that if just for a moment any of my works can make someone feel better for whatever amount of time, then it will all be worth it in the long run. I encourage anyone, man, woman or child who may see poetry in a different way than most do, to write a poem and see how it makes them feel. Poetry is an art that should be encouraged to our young people today as much as becoming a doctor, lawyer, teacher or entertainer is.

The House That Jack Built
Nothing is plum. Nothing is straight. Nothing is symmetrical. But way, way, waaaaay back in 1880, Jack built a four bedroom Victorian house with 2½ bathrooms, a half insulated attic with real live bats and a covered floor. Jack also made the master bedroom with a built in trampoline inThe House That Jack Built the middle of the floor.
Jack’s masterpiece was what he called the kitchen. This was the room with the mysterious dividing wall and floor that was everything but level. If you put a level on it, the bubble went in two different directions and disappeared. When you put a marble on the floor, it would go back and forth as though it was confused. This was the only house on the block you could get seasick in while you were in the kitchen. Try to fry something in the pan and the cooking oil would go on tour.
But this was our new home and we wanted an old fix me up. Man, talk about getting what you asked for! We later found out that Jack had help and special tools. You see, we think he was blind or he had Mr. Magoo, three blind mice, Jose, Ray and Stevieone named Jose, one named Ray, one named Stevie and a black cat helping him at night.
His tools were as follows: a shoe box for a square, a very worn yardstick with missing numbers, two bow saws, two crooked hammers, a slightly bent level with 1½ bubbles, a rock with a string for a plumb bob, screwdriver, a pair of pliers, a monkey wrench and a crooked ladder. His building supplies were cut nails, small trees, odd sized bricks, and whatever else was lying around.
By the way, this house also came with a basement built for people not more than 4 feet tall. The steps to the basement only went ¾ of the way down. The rest was a leap of faith. It has a concrete floor in one section and red brick in the other. The ceiling was decorated with spider webs from the late 1800’s. The spiders pump weights and take steroids. Their favorite drink is Raid Professional Strength®.
One of the bathrooms on the first floor had a sink on a stick and a latex painted shower stall. The half bathroom just off the kitchen fell off the first year we were here due to the termites eating away at its foundation. I always thought the toilet felt a little rickety. There used to be a two car garage and a shed. The shed fell down and we had the carpenter bee infested garage torn down. The only other outside building left is a real old brick smokehouse.
Overall, Jack’s house had a new roof, new heater, new cesspool and new 100 amp electric service. There are two porches, one winter and one summer. The winter one we renovated. The summer one we had to demolish before the floor ate the postman or the delivery guy. The moral of this story is, no matter where you live always be sure that the previous owner’s name isn’t Jack and that you don’t have to dedicate the rest of your natural life to fixing up your new old house.
